SIGNS
The highway department is responsible for signs along their township roads. Please report any damage or missing signs as soon as possible so we can install replacements.
Requests for additional signage should be addressed with the Highway Commissioner. All signs erected by Fremont Township must be approved by Lake County Department of Transportation. Each situation is reviewed by the Traffic Operations Engineer, and if the necessary requirements are met, a sign permit is issued.
Speed limits
Our highway department does not determine speed limits for our township roads. All roads are evaluated through a strict protocol by Lake County DOT to determine the appropriate speed limit, which involves a speed study. For more information, check out Lake County's website.
Radar Speed Signs
Speeding and distracted driving is a pervasive problem. Our highway department utilizes radar speed signs in temporary locations to remind drivers to slow down. Requests for speed monitoring can be made at highway@fremonttownship.com
