A useful number of very worthwhile services and programs are available to low-income residents of Fremont Township residents and are listed below.

Donors provide groceries or grocery store gift cards to make a Holiday meal or purchase gifts for less fortunate township residents. The township will give the donor gift ideas and sizes to make shopping easier. Gift cards are always welcome. Please call if you would like to donate or if you would like to be a recipient.
The Township's Administration Center has a community room which can be used for scouting groups, clubs, homeowner's association meetings, and community events at no charge.
CLC (College of Lake County) Dental Hygiene Clinic at 111 N. Genesee St. Waukegan, IL 60085. For appointments, call (847) 543-2172. Walk-in screenings will be accepted when student availability exists. Screening Appointments are FREE! All patients start with a screening appointment, where dental health needs are assessed and further dental services are scheduled. Receive these Dental Hygiene Services for just $15: Teeth cleanings, X-rays, fluoride application, pit and fissure sealants, examination for other dental needs. Fremont Township is a member of the Diaper Bank Partnership of Lake County. This service can provide 30 diapers per month (adult and child) to residents in need.
Emergency Assistance is an annual assistance program that helps residents alleviate a life-threatening circumstance or to assist in self-sufficiency. Some circumstances may include eviction or past due rent or mortgage, utility disconnection, or prescription assistance. Applicant must be a township resident and meet the guidelines set forth by the Township Supervisor.
Fremont Township operates a food pantry which assists township residents who are experiencing financial difficulty or on a fixed income with non-perishable food products. You must be a township resident to receive items. The food pantry is open during normal business hours but the recipient should call to schedule a pickup time. We accept donations of non-perishable food items, paper products, cleaning supplies, toiletries, grocery store gift cards, and cash.
General Assistance is a monthly assistance program that assists with living expenses and may include medical assistance. Applicant must be a township resident and meet the guidelines set forth by The Township Officials of Illinois.
PADS Day Resource Center is the point of entry for persons experiencing homelessness. Upon falling into homelessness, individuals and families visit PADS to be assessed and receive the assistance they need. More information >>
There is a new application to apply for Medicaid, SNAP (food stamps) and Cash Assistance. Find it online at www.abe.illinois.gov. We have paper applications available in English and Spanish at our office and will fax it for you.

LIHEAP is an annual assistance program that helps with the high cost of winter heating. You must meet the income guidelines.

Fremont Township receives donations of school supplies in the Summer/Fall to provide low-income students with the supplies needed for school.
Donors provide groceries or grocery store gift cards to make a Thanksgiving meal for less fortunate township residents. We have seniors and families to provide for. Please call if you would like to donate or if you would like to be a recipient.
SHARE-THE-WARMTH is an annual assistance program from North Shore Gas that helps with the high cost of winter heating. This program is for North Shore Gas and People’s Energy Customers who have an arrearage of at least $200.00. Please call 847.223.2847 for income guidelines and additional information.

Qualified low-income households can receive weatherization assistance to save energy and money. Contact your local Community Action Agency or call 877.411.9276 for more information.
